Bloucher Field (listed in the NFWF grant as “Bloucher Ford”) is a Land Trust of North Alabama property included in the NFWF Cumberland Plateau Stewardship Fund program. The property offers opportunities for native habitat restoration across both upland and riparian areas.

Conservation Management

Conservation work planned for this property includes:

• Native grassland restoration — converting degraded cool-season grass areas to diverse native warm-season grass and forb communities benefiting bobwhite quail, grasshopper sparrow, and other grassland wildlife
• Invasive species management — systematic removal of Chinese privet, kudzu, and other priority invasives
• Riparian buffer restoration — establishing vegetated buffers along any stream corridors to protect water quality and provide wildlife travel corridors
• Prescribed burning — using prescribed fire to maintain restored grassland and open woodland habitats once established
